Overview

The individual hub is a shared regional JupyterHub for personal use. You pick which of your organisations pays, consent once, and spawn one notebook server at a time. Billing is hourly from that organisation's prepaid wallet, not a monthly seat subscription.

Classroom labs are separate; see Create a notebook lab.

Before you start

  • You need notebooks:use in the paying organisation (owners have this).
  • The organisation must be prepaid with wallet balance above zero. Postpaid organisations cannot use the individual hub.
  • Only one individual notebook server can run for you at a time in a region.

Steps

Open the individual hub

  1. In the sidebar, open Notebooks.
  2. In Start a notebook, find your region's card (shown when you are eligible).
  3. Select Open on that card.

If no card appears, you may lack permission, the organisation may be postpaid or out of balance, or Notebooks is not enabled in that region.

Sign in and choose a size

  1. Sign in with CloudPe when the hub prompts you.
  2. Pick the organisation that pays (prepaid with balance).
  3. Approve the consent step.
  4. Choose a CPU size — small, medium or large (nb-cpu-s, nb-cpu-m, nb-cpu-l), matching the same vCPU and memory classes as classroom labs.

While the notebook runs

  1. Idle shutdown — Servers stop after 30 minutes without activity.
  2. Maximum session — Servers stop after 4 hours total runtime for the individual tier.
  3. Billing — Active time is billed per hour at the configured rate for that size (for example 3, 6 and 10 INR per hour for small, medium and large in IN-WEST3). The dashboard and usage pages show current prices; rates may change.
  4. Wallet — CloudPe re-checks balance and permission while the server runs. At zero balance or lost access, the notebook is stopped.
  5. Storage — Personal storage is billed per GB-hour, including while the server is stopped.

Storage dormancy

If your individual storage is unused for 30 days, CloudPe sends a warning email. Storage unused for about three months may be deleted.

Troubleshooting

  • Hub card missing or Open does nothing — Organisation may be postpaid, wallet empty, or you lack notebooks:use.
  • prepaid wallet required at spawn — Top up the prepaid wallet or pick another organisation.
  • one session at a time — Stop your other individual server before starting a new one.
  • not allowed to use notebooks — You lost notebooks:use or membership in the billing organisation.
